A new entrant has joined the list of aspirants that have set sights on securing the Kiminini parliamentary seat in the 2022 general elections with the incumbent Dr. Chris Wamalwa eyeing the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial slot.
Dr. Joseph Mutunga Wafula alias Doube Double has been crisscrossing the constituency in a vote hunting mission having set up a series of community development projects in what he has termed as demonstrating what he can do if elected.
“I was born and raised at Weonia area in Sikhendu ward hence I understand the challenges that the residents of Kiminini constituency are faced with and the best approach to address them,” said Dr. Wafula who is a veterinary practitioner.
The father of five said he has focused his campaign agenda on socio-economic transformation with a keen interest in improved education standards and empowering of the youths, women, and the elderly who are disadvantaged.
“I have been assisting the needy among them, widows. I have also developed several support systems that are geared towards offering a helping hand to the needy,” he spoke at Birunda.
St. Peters Mumias Boys High School principal Cosmas Nabungolo has also declared interest in the seat with a keen interest in furthering education and sports as a tool to drive economic empowerment among the youths within the constituency.
Martin Manyonge Walubuka is another parliamentary hopeful who has made inroads in the constituency through his philanthropic activities immediately after the 2017 general elections.
Mr. Walubuka, 35, who is a quantity surveyor by profession has cut a political niche through his business ties by offering a helping hand in several socio-economic issues affecting residents.
Kiminini ward MCA David Kisaka, commonly known as Simba ya Kiminini, has also joined the race hoping to capitalize on his track record as a two-time ward representative.
The Ford Kenya MCA said he is ready to square it out with other bigwigs in the 2022 election race having cast his political net wider to reach out to the other wards in the vote hunt.
Other aspirants who are expected to join the race are Trans Nzoia county secretary Sifuna Wakofula, Bishop Julius Mbagaya, Peter Kusimba, Robert Wamalwa, and Godwin Masibo.
