Supporters of deputy president William Ruto in Trans Nzoia have warmed up to the United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) and cautioned political brokers against  hijacking the leadership of the party to advance selfish interests.

The supporters drawn from the five sub counties said certain individuals are angling for county positions that they intend to use to frustrate the political dreams of some aspirants like a past scenario in the Jubilee party.

“We are aware of agents of disunity who are moving around hoodwinking Ruto supporters that they have been selected as interim officials with an intention of seeking favours from aspirants,” said Mr. John Walubengo.

They called on the party’s chairman Johnston Muthama to ensure all party activities are done transparently to contain busy bodies who may affect the party’s popularity to the benefit of its competitors.

“The party has to lay focus on a membership registration drive then have grassroots elections to elect officials. This is the only way to contain conmanship,” said Mr. Jeremiah Njunguna.

In a different forum, another group of supporters stressed the need by the leadership of the UDA party to launch a robust membership registration exercise saying the number of those interested to join is overwhelming.

“UDA is the right party for us in this region since it has a nationalistic agenda as opposed to other parties which have a tribal based mission. We are going to popularize the party,” said Mr. Humphrey Sabahi.

They told off those who have dismissed the party’s hustler empowerment ideology saying the country requires solutions to setbacks that are hindering its socio-economic growth instead of mere chest thumping,” said Mr. James Kangi.

The party has drawn a lot of backing from former Jubilee party supporters in the region who feel the ruling party has been rendered useless by its leadership which is selective in running its affairs.
