Mbito attacks Wetang’ula for opposing bid to move Mt. Elgon to Trans Nzoia

Trans Nzoia Senator Dr. Michael Mbito has attacked his Bungoma counterpart Moses Wetang’ula over the latter’s opposition to a motion seeking to relocate Mt. Elgon Sub County.

Dr. Mbito wondered why Senator Wetang’ula has branded the move as an ill motive yet residents from the Sabaot community wish to move to Trans Nzoia where they feel they will have better representation.

“He has been Criss-Crossing this county on a mission to demonize the agitation by residents of Mt. Elgon to be part of Trans Nzoia yet he has not bothered to know why they want to do so,” he spoke in Kitale.

The senator dismissed rumours that the petition is a political strategy by the Sabaot Community to have a numerical strength that will enable one of them to win the Governor’s seat.

“The agitation is based on marginalization and not clamour for Trans Nzoia Governorship. In any case, the gubernatorial seat is not reserved for one community but all who reside in this county,” he said.

The senator said the Ford Kenya leader should be on the forefront to foster cohesion among communities which reside in Bungoma county and Trans Nzoia at large instead of playing a tribal card.

“His movements revolve on Ford Kenya issues judging by his move to wear party uniforms even at funerals. He should know that time for politics ended and we are now focused on serving Kenyans,” said Dr. Mbito.
