A Trans Nzoia based pastor has been handed a 25 years imprisonment by the High Court in Kitale after he was found guilty of defiling and later killing a High school student in 2011 who was pregnant with triplets.
Justice Hillary Chemitei said evidence presented before the court had proven that Pastor Charles Nyachwara who served at the Yuya Pentecostal Assemblies of God PAG is guilty of killing the minor to save his image.
“I have heard the litigation by both the prosecution and defense sides. What is evident is the fact that the minor suffered cruel death in your hands. You have a right of appeal,” Justice Chemitei said while delivering the judgment.
Pastor Nyachwara is said to have stabbed Scolastica Mmbihi to death using a kitchen knife on July 7, 2011 in a bid to end a court tussle, which had ensued between him and the girl’s family after he defiled and impregnated her.
The family of the deceased who was a 2011 candidate at Yuya secondary school had launched criminal proceedings against the pastor when he impregnated their daughter before she was mercilessly killed.
According to his own confession during submissions earlier on, he killed the woman to safeguard his priestly image after his efforts to settle the matter with the family out of court was unfruitful.
“I wish to state that I killed her because his father was not prepared to withdraw a defilement charges laid against me at Kitale law courts,” said the pastor.
Postmortem reports submitted in the court earlier revealed that the deceased was carrying triplets.
The Girl’s father Paul Mmbihi who has waited for long for justice said he will not appeal the judgement despite it falling below his expectation saying no amount of justice can bring her daughter back to life.
“I thank God that Justice has finally been served after a long wait. I will not contest the judgement since no amount of justice will bring her back. I leave everything to God,” said Mr. Mmbihi.
