Caleb Amisi tournament launched to tap talents

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has launched a five months football tournament within the constituency aimed at tapping sporting talents for uptake by teams playing in the Kenyan premier league (KPL).

The “Caleb Amisi tournament” will see teams in each of the five wards face off at the grassroots level to secure chances to play at the sub county level where sixteen teams will battle for the top prize of Sh 350, 00.

“Top three teams at the ward level will proceed to play at the sub county level while an additional best losing team from the hosting ward will be added to make sixteen teams,” Mr. Amisi said while launching the tournament at Rafiki primary school.

The legislator said teams that emerge victorious at the ward level will be awarded Sh 20, 000, the runners up will be awarded Sh 15, 000, the third will be awarded Sh 10, 000 while the fourth one will take Sh 5, 000 home.

“I have established a network with officials of all the KPL sides to send scouting coaches to identify talents in the whole tournament. This initiative has the blessings of the Football Kenya Federation Nick Mwendwa,” said Mr. Amisi.

The runners up team at the Sub county finals will earn Sh 150, 000 the third will earn Sh 70, 000 while the fourth team will get Sh 30, 000 in the tournament whose final will be played on January, 2 2021.

“This tournament will be an annual event to ensure we harness and develop sporting talents which is one way of aiding the youths to make a living out of their unique gifts since white collar jobs are limited,” he said.
