Bid to enhance pedigree dairy cattle semen production

The Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) is seeking to enhance pedigree dairy cattle semen production following concerted efforts to improve the Genetics of animals at a affordable rates.

The firm which recently imported purebred bulls from South Africa to enhance the production of the product at its Endebess center in Trans Nzoia is also banking on technological innovations to boost production.

ADC’s Chairman Benjamin cheboi said the bulls were selected by the Genetic Advisory Committee to address farmers’ needs for improved dairy & beef productivity and other traits of economic importance that will contribute to the advancement of Food and Nutritional Security Agenda.

“I want to assure you that the bulls have been selected by a competent Genetic Advisory Committee to address farmers’ needs for improved dairy & beef productivity and other traits of economic importance that will contribute to the advancement of Food and Nutritional Security Agenda,” said Mr. Cheboi.

He said all the standard operating procedures related to bio security disease control, semen processing and storage are in conformity with International standards and we have no doubt in the product being released to the farmers.

“We are starting a journey with you and the Public Private Partnership we are building, will be of mutual benefit to both parties. I want to assure you that this Centre will serve you diligently and efficiently,” said the cxhairman

The Endebess Centre started with 4 bulls in June 2018 and has registered tremendous growth over the last 1 ½ years. Today, the Centre has 41 bulls of Dairy and beef breeds and has managed to process 503,923 doses of semen.
